MENISCUS

Three parts instrumental powerhouse and one part stunning cinema, Meniscus are renowned for their "melodic, atmospheric, utterly tension-filled" concerts, which are "rich in inspiration and emotion”, “capped off with celestial visuals." (Prog Archives, The Music)

"They have only released 3 albums to date, but have enough firepower to be considered as one of the best post-rock bands in existence today." (WherePostRockDwells)

Meniscus, a Sydney-based 3+1 piece band (Daniel Oreskovic, Guitar; Alison Kerjean, Bass; Alex O'Toole, Drums; Martin Wong, Visuals), are deep in a new writing phase, progressing their stated mission: create music that is an expression of moods, feelings, and emotions, telling a story without the use of words. The band teased audiences late in 2025, roadtesting previously unheard material at ‘Mikefest’, aka the Bird's Robe Records' 15th Birthday Australian Tour, to fevered response. A new album is just over the horizon.

Meniscus built their reputation as one of Australia's premier instrumental rock bands on the strength of LPs Absence Of I (2007), War Of Currents (2011), and Refractions (2016). The latter two albums were released to local and international acclaim, being pressed to vinyl and supported with Australian and European tours, where the band performed club dates and at festivals including Fusion (Germany), Dunk! (Belgium), Cobra Fest (Romania), Peats Ridge, Jungle Love, Progfest, etc. Domestically, Meniscus’ visceral audio-visual stageshow has been booked to support international heavyweights Caspian, Russian Circles, Mono, This Will Destroy You, Leprous, and more. Their Sydney post-rock bromance with We Lost The Sea, sleepmakeswaves, and Solkyri continues to bloom both on- and offstage.

New material has been a slower-than-anticipated work in progress, with COVID restrictions providing a pivot point for life to happily get in the way. Daniel and Alison started a family; Marty bought a house in the country with his partner; Alex opted for a seachange, took on EU/UK tours with label-mates SEIMS and Yomi Ship, and locked into teaching the next gen of Aussie drummers.

Reinvigorated by the Mikefest tour, Meniscus is expecting an exciting and musically bright 2026.
